Kansas City, MO -- The inaugural Operation Homefront Charity Golf Classic and Silent Auction, sponsored and organized by Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC), raised $22,000 to support military families in Kansas/Missouri.

“SAIC promotes a culture of citizenship, engagement, and volunteerism. We are proud this tournament raised funds for Operation Homefront enabling them to continue to provide emergency assistance to military families in our local area,” said Heath Starr, SAIC senior director for U.S. Department of Agriculture programs in Kansas City and Operation Homefront Kansas/Missouri Field Office Advisory Board member. “Operation Homefront’s important work directly impacts our community and we are delighted to present them with this donation today.”

Operation Homefront assists military families by providing them with food assistance, auto and home repair, vision care, travel and transportation, moving assistance, essential home items and financial assistance. The Kansas/Missouri chapter specifically supports service members and families at Fort's Leavenworth, Riley, and Leonard Wood.

SAIC joined forces with Operation Homefront in 2013. Since then, SAIC has donated more than $500,000 to help the organization fly military personnel home to be reunited with their families, to provide military children with backpacks filled with school supplies as part of the Back-to-School Brigade, and Homes on the Homefront. As a sponsor for the Washington Nationals Patriotic Series, a four-game series that encourages fans to celebrate the American spirit while enjoying the national pastime at Nationals Park, SAIC also distributed tickets to members of Operation Homefront and wounded warriors.

“Operation Homefront cherishes its partnership with SAIC,” Operation Homefront Regional Director Darcy Clardy said. “The $22,000 raised this year in the inaugural Golf Tournament and Silent Auction will help Operation Homefront to build strong, stable, and secure military families. We can’t thank SAIC, other tournament sponsors, players, and silent auction participants enough for all the good that they have done for the amazing men and women who serve our country and their families.”
