SAIC Awarded Global Information Technology Support Services (GITSS) Contract by the Department of Veterans Affairs
WASHINGTON, Mar 22, 2004 - SAIC today announced it is a co-recipient of one of the seven Global Information Technology Support Services (GITSS) large business contract awards from the Department of Veterans Affairs' (DVA) newly-created Federal Acquisition Center – BuyIT.gov – located in Austin, Texas.
In addition to SAIC, nine other companies also were recipients of this indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity (ID/IQ) contract award. The GITSS contract is an ID/IQ contract vehicle with a ceiling value potential of $3 billion. Open to all federal agencies, it will be performed over one base year with seven option years to renew.
The GITSS contract vehicle is the centerpiece of the DVA's newly established BuyIT.gov acquisition service. BuyIT.gov specializes in the procurement of IT products and services for the federal government on a fee-for-service basis. BuyIT.gov offers customers expert knowledge of streamlined acquisition techniques with specialized business acumen to deliver timely acquisitions that provide enforceable, mission-driven procurements.
Under this contract, SAIC will be able to provide IT and telecommunications services to customers throughout the federal marketplace. The GITSS vehicle incorporates 22 distinct functional areas including LAN support, IT security, Web development, software development, independent verification and validation, network infrastructure support, IT strategic planning, and e-commerce.
