"Twenty-five percent of our workforce are veterans and we are proud that SAIC is a career destination for veterans looking to transition to a long-term, fulfilling career"

Reston, Va. -- Science Applications International Corp. (NYSE: SAIC) announced today that it has received the Contractor Excellence in Partnership Award for Veteran’s Employment, administered by the Coalition for Government Procurement (CGP).

SAIC was selected as the Contractor Excellence in Partnership for successfully promoting and executing a veteran program for employees. SAIC’s Military/Veterans Business Resource Group (M/VBRG) is a major contributor to the company’s veteran-hiring success. The group launched in April 2017 and has more than 300 members across 10 SAIC-sponsored chapters across the country.

The M/VBRG advocates and serves as a resource for employees who are veterans, active-duty personnel, and their families, offering mentoring and networking opportunities and support resources. It also serves as a forum for all employees to recognize and honor the important role veterans play in serving our country and our communities.

The M/VBRG is an employee-run, company-sponsored program that operates under the leadership of SAIC Chief Human Resources Officer Karen Wheeler.

"Twenty-five percent of our workforce are veterans and we are proud that SAIC is a career destination for veterans looking to transition to a long-term, fulfilling career," said Wheeler. "The work of the M/VBRG has helped to reinforce the critical role veterans play in our company and our culture. Furthermore, the group’s presence early in the hiring process provides a valuable mentorship network and support system for veterans as they join the company."

As part of SAIC’s inclusion and diversity program, called MOSAIC, the M/VBRG is one of four interest-based business resource groups. These groups provide opportunities for networking, mentoring, leadership development, and knowledge sharing. Although each BRG has a specific focus, all employees are invited to participate.

EIP Awards honor individuals and organizations in the acquisition community who have made significant contributions to the procurement system that deliver best value and meet agency missions. Historically, these awards have been given to individuals, organizations, and contractors involved in procurement with the General Services Agency, Veterans Affairs, the Department of Defense, the Department of Homeland Security, and other government agencies.
